My 20month old Cocker bitch has a some "Faint Reddening" on her chest and inner thigh and on the inside of her front legs... could this be a reaction to grass contact ? (or are am I being to protective...? ) it doesn't affect her training/working whatsoever - she plods on through life as though it's not there.
She must be related to my Basset boy who has similar. And yes, some of it is licking but which came first, the itchy discolouring or the licking. I sympathise. Some of my breed are more prone to this than others - I was lucky that for the most part, my bloodline didn't suffer like this - but many do.

Hi, You've got me thinking.... It's possible for her to lick the inside of her legs but I don't think she can access the area directly below her neck and on the chest...?? I don't know but hey thanks for your reply...
A while back I noticed a reddish area on the chest of my golden retriever. I discovered that it was the the collar I had on her. I had checked that the buckle and D ring of the collar was not cheap base metals, but had forgotten about the little metal rings around each hole and it was staining from these rusting that caused the stains. Changed her collar to a strong plastic snap fastening type, staining went.
