Can anyone advise. My Border Terrier, a real scavenger, eat a small chicken stock cube that had fallen on the floor. I've encouraged her to drink as much water as possible, which she has done. I know these cubes have a high salt content and I'm rather worried. She seems perfectly fine. Any advise please.

She will be naturally thirsty which will dilute the salt but it's the cumulative effects of salt in the diet that are thought to be unhealthy.
If you're at all worried give your vet a call.

Don't worry about it. I also have a small terrier that gets hold of naughty things like this. Just make sure you have lots of fresh water available if she wants it :)

I had a borzoi once that ate a whole box of stock cubes, ok she was a lot bigger than a border terrier but I think there were 20 odd cubes in it, no ill effects. Mind you the same dog also ate a bottle of metacam, a box of chocolates, some rat poison and an entire torch (complete with bulb and battery), and a few other things that you'd think would kill her. I don't recommend trying any of that at home but she did live a very long life for the breed

LOL, & to think I got worried about a Nutella sandwich & a couple of shoe insoles!!!

Had a Boxer that ate a full box of 12 protein bars that belonged to my SIL, he had just bought them from the gym. After a stomach pump she was hyper for days - but survived

Hi Folks. Thanks for replies. Apart from drinking for england, she's absolutely fine and had no ill effects. I'm apt to panic I know. At Christmas she had a mince pie. Well, I know raisins and currents are poisonous, rang vet, took her down so they could induce her to vomit. Was ooh's. I came away £200 worse off and when I got home and looked in one, there was only about 3 currants in them. !!! Thanks again.
