I've just advertised my puppies on the KC and I've been surprised how many people have been overly concerned about vaccinations.

I've even had one person cancel their viewing because they wanted a healthy puppy, and as our wasn't vaccinated they didn't want to take the risk, he had already been microchipped and vet checked so clearly not unhealthy, just not vaccinated

I've never vaccinated because I haven't felt the need and wouldn't like to subject a young puppy to an extra dose if the new puppy owners vet wanted to restart the course.

Has anyone else noticed this obsession or have I just been unlucky with my enquirers?

I tend to buy the vaccination package so they have the first with me and 2nd one paid for (at a well known vet group that is all over the UK).

I never vaccinate my pups before they leave unless they stay past 10 weeks and then won't let them go until they have had both.

I strongly advise my owners not to start vaccinations until over 10 weeks.

Have you sent them information like this http://www.dogsnaturallymagazine.com/free/puppy-shots.pdf

Thanks Brainless I'll save this for if/when I have another litter.

I would never vaccinate before homing pups ... Never first vaccine prior to 12 weeks and mine leave at 7-8 weeks

People have a list of things they feel they should be asking these days.  Fact is our puppies were vaccinated for the first time at around 10 weeks.   Because I knew that occasionally a vet wouldn't accept one external vaccination being given by the breeder, and started over again, I never sent a puppy home with any vaccination being given, unless it was done with those I'd kept back, at 10 weeks.   I'd explain that to my puppy buyers and it was accepted.

I'd not be bullied into giving any shots by a buyer who thought this should be given.   Stick to what you want to do for your puppies.  I would say that from what I've seen on American dog websites, any breeder who sells unvaccinated puppies (even just the first shot) is being seen as a BYB!!!   Hum.

ps   It's been a long time now since we were breeding, but I never experienced this - if people have walked away - there will be others.

I don't like  a breeder to vaccinate as I prefer to vaccinate later as brsinless says and make sure all are done by the same vet so there is no incompatibilities. So for me that woudl be something u woudl Def agree with u
