We have a 13 year old GSD bitch, she is suffering from arthritis and has recently over the last 4 months started to leave "puddles and piles". As she is a much loved family pet I took her to the vets and he has prescribed her vivitonin tablets, propalin syrup and glucosamine sulphate, I would like to hear if anyone has used these for their dogs, and if so have they helped. So far there seems to have been a remarkable improvement in her, but we are keeping our fingers crossed that it lasts.

I have used propalin syrup for my terrier mix as she was abit loose in the house, mind you she is only six but she had a serious problem and the treatment worked at treat.
No more puddles , and if she starts again i will pop her back on it

We have successfully used propalyn and vivitonin on our elderly bitch. Propalyn is not a cure though and needs to be used continuously. Aggresion is recognised as a side effect in some dogs, our vet tried it on our elderly dog and he had a complete personality change! back to normal as soon as it was stopped though. Good luck.

Having also got a 13 year old gsd bitch who does have accidents, goes with being old, she is starting to drag her back legs a bit and generally stiffening up, but she is on liquid parrafin and peridale crystals because she becomes constipated, this happened last time when we were on holiday and a friend was looking after her who didnt really take much notice of her straining so when i got back i had to take her straight down to the vets to be unbunged which is not something she enjoys having done, i dont think i would either, its funny how things affect them differently when they get old.
