Hi all just wondered if any of you have ever noticed a strong smell coming from your bitches at the time of mate. Took my bitch to be  mated on Monday (3 days after ovulation) and she was giving off a very strong odour....which she had been since the day before. Mating went fine and I took her back last night as she was still standing and the dog wasn't interested in her....strangely the smell had gone.

The stud dog would have known when she was "ripe" and also, when she had gone over.  It just sounds to me that you had an experienced boy.
