Lancaster &district canine society show is a limit show. What are the rules of entry?
- By Dawn-R Date 08.01.16 11:50 UTC
The entries are limited to members of the society. So you need to become a member.CC winners cannot enter and some at least have a geographical radius. Otherwise these are brilliant shows to build up your confidence and experience

Used to be a time when people didn't enter Champ.shows until/unless they started to get sig.good results from 'lesser' shows, like Open and yes, Limit.  Now people seem to jump straight into Champ.shows.   And often get disillusioned if they get sent out with 'the rubbish'.   I'd urge any novice to start low and work up.

Thanks.

Sorry, yet another problem. Do I just pay the subscription to be a member on the entry form? Don't you have to be proposed etc and fill out a form?

In the past, yes. Not so much these days. Open shows are becoming fewer and fewer with many no longer existing, and of those that do exist, unless you have a very common breed, it's unlikely to have breed classes for you. Entries have dropped all across the board so unless you have one of THE most numerical breeds like for instance Golden or Labrador Retriever or Cavalier, most people will stand a good chance of getting placed at their first championship show. Limit shows are only a little bit more common than hen's teeth.
Edited to say: I happened to have schedules for 3 open shows right next to my keyboard, all breed ones. Not one of them have breed classes for Bassetts, so I'd imagine your breed is one of many where you'd find it extremely difficult to find open shows with classes. And personally I very much subscribe to the saying that AVNSC equals Any Variety Not Seriously Considered, and will not show in them.

Hi Gaby, yes, just add your membership subscription to your entry on the form. Enjoy the show, they are great little shows for confidence building and experience. Cup of tea, piece of cake and a bit of chat. Lovely.

You see it's been YEARS since I was out there ........  And frankly the way numbers have dropped at Champ dogs in my breed (meaning 'cheap Championships) I'm surprised CCs haven't been lost by now too.    I'd still not rule out entering a lesser show, AVNSC or not , if just for experience with a puppy before jumping in the deep end.

Thanks for that. Trying to enter everything we can.
