i have arthrices in my hands also pins needles and numbess also have trapped nerves and muscel damage in right shoulder
my hands are really driving me nuts and getting me so down
its been put down to 27yrs of plaiting light and heavy horses every weekend and week
also my gran said its down to havingy hands in water washing heavy horse feathers etc
my hands get so warm.and sore also numness all time
can hardly hold things can only knit for 5min before pain sets in
i am so down the pain killers are not helping
now have lump on index finder
had xrays on my hands last week.and see doctor next week
i am going back on supplaments thinking about acupunter have had it on my back and hip
i am only 37yrs but feel 97yr
not sure if doctor will put me on arthrices mediction
not sure if ME making pain worse
anyone got any tips for things to ease pain in my hands

I have arthritis in hands and some years ago a very old lady with very twisted hands told me to vigorously shake them every morning. I have done it ever since and it certainly helps me! They are usually more painful when new joints become affected and then when they have done their worst, the pain eases.

You are very young to have to cope with such pain. You need referral to the pain clinic at your local hospital. I hope things improve for you in the New Year.

Me too have arthritic hands - not confirmed but my fingers are twisted now and I have a hard lump on the index finger of my right hand.  Some weeks ago my Whippet jerked her lead out of my hand and the pain was so bad, with swelling, that I thought she'd broken it so went to our local A & E for X-rays.   It's not broken but clearly the tendons have been pulled and after at least a month now, there is still some swelling and although I can type, jerking it in some directions is very painful.   Oh the joys of the golden years.   Somebody once said (not original) that the only thing golden about old age, is pee.

I hope you can find some pain relief of course.

I too have a problem with my hands, I have deformed fingers on both hands and they are very painful some days. Years ago my Gran used to have hot wax treatment for hers where they dipped her hands in melted warm wax and then wrapped them in warm towels for 1/2 hour. It did help so I do, if mine are bad, warm towels in the tumble dryer and wrap my hands in then and rest them for 1/2 hour. It does help. I also have a squidgy stress relieving pig (its made of some special foam) and I try to squeeze it every day for a little while to keep the hands working. Its all abut keeping them warm and well used.
My toes are bad as well so they get the hot towel treatment and I pick pencils up with my toes ;-)

as i said plaiting horses main tails etc for last 27yr not helped at weekends i plaited up 4 heavy horses mains and tails also working in forge and out helping papa show horses.gran.also said it was lifting anival out and in papa van and helping papa make horse shows
i have had two back surgies the surgeon.said i was youngest he operated on

just orderd hand supports on.amazon so will be if they help
i take 30/500mg co cocodmal
100mg amitriptyline
also tried tumric.rosehip.fish oil etc

if i was old yeld mare i would be put down for amont of thing wrong with me lol

Have any of you tried using turmeric paste?. I know many who have found  it very helpful for arthritis and other inflamatory conditions.noticed that you said you tried turmeric was that as a paste which had more effect as it contains more than just turmeric

My son bought me Tumeric and Manuka honey. Apparently a spoonful of the Manuka (must be Manuka) and a crushed up Tumeric pill mixed together, is supposed to be beneficial. Have to say the Manuka honey is delicious though rather expensive even in NZ where is comes from.
I don't have arthritis anywhere apart from my lower back and osteo arthritis in my knees. Had right knee replaced four weeks ago which feels a hell of a lot better, left knee has a lesser problem which may be sorted with a smaller op.
I take co codamol and diclofenic. Docs are reluctant to prescribe the diclofenic these days, but I find it beneficial. Hopefully I will be able to stop taking them or at least reduce what I do take over the coming year. The codeine in the cocodamol has some rather undesirable effects!

I take Amitriptyline if my knees are bad at night but can only take 20mg - I would be a zombie all day on 100mg! Hot towels sounds a very good idea.

I might as well chew smarties for how much help I found with cocodamal.  Ask your doc for codeine phosphate.  It suits me very well and it's what I used for my recent hip replacement.  I don't find much relief with Tramadol either.  It's a case of finding what suits you. I take 2 x 30mg Codeine tablets and I get the best relief after about half an hour.

Google golden paste. you make it with turmeric containing 3% curcumin. Available from amazon add water and coconut oil and heat until it's like custard add some fresh black pepper and take a couple if teaspoons a day. Store in the fridge.  The extra ingredients make the difference to pure turmeric

How odd!  I recently spent a week in hospital and was offered Tramadol every 4 hours after surgery.

I could have had tramadol after my surgery as the morphine was making me feel very sick. Decided just to have the codeine phosphate. I just have one at night now, not got a great deal of pain in the new knee, more discomfort and an occasional stingy feeling on the scar. Bruising is bad though.
Can manage during the day with either co codamol, paracetamol or aspirin.

it might just be scotland that new rules apply

the doctor was telling me that if you are on tramadol you are not allowed to travel with it on flights etc

Did your gran inject herself into her tummy area? If so, they will be a blood thinning stuff which helps to stop the formation of DVT's. I came out in massive bruises as my blood is pretty thin to start off with it seems.

The travelling conditions with tramadol could be something to do with entry into other countries. I discovered to my horror that I should have not had co codamol with me when we did a stopover in Singapore which has a very strict drug policy.

My advice would be to have any medication in its original packets with the pharmacy instructions on the pack, have a letter from your doctors declaring the need and dosage for the drugs, carry them in your hand luggage and declare them at customs along with the doctors letter.

Tramadol is still very much prescribed in England . If that's about to change regular users have not been advised

its been about year that doctors her in north ayrshire have stoped giving tramadol

Odd because there is nothing regarding changes in rules in any of the uk for a few years and that was only to make sure no more than a month at a time was able to be prescribed by a gp.its still bing pees robed here if though necessary

yes its odd as doctors gave letters out about changes to tramadol

started reading nightingale books by donna douglas its 7 books about nurses in ww2
it was saying that nurses used lineseed to calm itchey hot legs in diabitic people i have never heard of lineseed been used on humans
only known linseed to been feed ti horses wonder if linseed politic would work on arthitic hands

I had a total hip replacement and they sent me home with stuff to inject in my tum for a month.  I asked if it was warfarin, they said no but it did the same job.  I must be rubbish at injecting myself because I was black and blue on my tum.  It looked awful.

the injections sounds horrible i can give horses injections etc but when it comes to my self i hate needles
after c section i was sent hope with injections for 7days after c section.the midwifes done them in my arm.it was horrid so painful

Because the stuff you are injecting is to thin the blood it also allows bruising to form more easily. My tum was the same, a mass of bruising and it hurt too. Two and a half weeks since the last jab and I still have a little bruise which hasn't quite gone yet. Hated doing it, but the thought of a clot forming somewhere spurred me on.

Then go for it!  I had to close my eyes while injecting myself, but it hurt less than someone else doing it.  Agreed it is major surgery and you need to be patient (not doing all things you want to) but the pain you are getting now will have disappeared.  Very, very successful surgery, I know whenever I asked people (because I was rather scared of it) the reply was always "best thing I ever did."

was reading that taking arnica tablets pre op and after op helps reducing bruising etc also arnica helps anti imflamaintry

my best friends is persanol trainer she studed herbs supmlaments she been advising on what i can take
i am so desprite to find something to help pain in my back hip pelvics and hands i am willing to try anything that will give me some help its getting me so down and ME does not help

been doing lot of resurch came across herb called rhus tox its used for arthritics in human and aniamls it has really good review it comes in cream and tablet have orderd both
so hope betwee. rhus tox .arnica.rosehip .turmirec helps the pain

Pernaton Gel is fab for easing sore joints/inflammation.  I have arthritis in my hands and it really helps temporarily.

Injection is Fragmin.

Don't forget coconut oil, if you opt to have turmeric by itself (the golden paste has it in, of course).  I'm not sure what the lauric acid does in terms of arthritis but I've heard plenty of good reports.  I'm trying it myself for various joint pains, although it's too early to report back on it.  It is helping my lab's athritis though!

was speaking to my best friend last night she personal trainer she just taking and selling juice products they are veg and fruit tablets shakes etc
the tablets are really good for arthritic joints also help hair nail enargy etc i would like to try but they are over £20.00 just for fruit tablets if you want both its £37.00 mnth

she also feeds her old mare turmeric powder old moo has arthritics but is vetern with attidued

hand supports arrived this morning had them on for 30min really.hope they help also got reflexolagay app next week fingers crossed ....
