We've currently got 3 males (6yr old neutered Papillon, 5yr old neutered Pit Bull cross and 6mth old entire Papillon) and we want to get another Papillon at the end of next year (when our puppy will be 18mths old).
We'll be going back to the breeder of our youngest but we're unsure of which sex the new addition should be. Personally, I prefer males dogs but I'm not sure whether it's s good idea or not. Our three get on really well, but they could easily become a bit more challenging when the youngest hits adolescence, and I don't know if that's just a fluke or normal behaviour within a group of male dogs.
If we add a female to the mix, we'll def have the youngest neutered as we don't have any plans to breed. We've already told the breeder we want another from her litter next year and we'll be discussing with her which gender would be best but it'd be nice to go into the conversation with some sort of an idea of the pros and cons of each gender.
Our eldest Papillon is def in charge - the Pit Bull is happier being at the bottom of the pile and the youngster fits in nicely in between them.
The Papillons are so much fun and we can easily see ourselves with a pack of the little horrors running around, luckily we've got more than enough space and live in an area where we're not restricted on the number of dogs we can have.
