Well, seeing as I'm spending a lot of time on the floor of my study, I find I am flying through my reading material. Since Thursday  I have finished both of the last 2 Phillippa  Gregory novels, all 8 diagnosis murder novels and the history of the Kings and Queens of England. Now I want to start reading Agatha Christie, miss marple to be exact not poirot....couldn't  stand him on the tele. But where do I start? Do they have a reading order or should I go in written order or does it not matter?

Any other suggestions?  I still have Dan brown's  inferno but have struggled to get in to it and the same with holy blood and holy grail. Anyone read anything interesting  lately? I think my reading preferences are quite clear, not really in to 'chick lit'.

I would recommend  The Shardlake series C J Sansom. Set of 6 books. First called Dissolution it's set in Tudor times with Henry VIII  as ruler. A detective style series with Shardlake as a Lawyer. I also would recommend Heresy  too again a historical detective theme (I love History)
I would recommend The Book Thief  and also Gone Girl too.

Try Bernard Cornwell the Uhtred series (it's been on telly and finished last week) or Phil Rickman the Merrily Watkins series. Anything by Barbara Erskine is a good read - esp Lady of Hay and Child of the Phoenix.

Diana Gabaldon 'Outlander' series, brilliant and first book has been made into a series.

Very impressed with the Outlander series, it's pretty true to the book. It was produced with Diana Gabaldon as an advisor and she appears in one episode. Last two episodes are not for the faint hearted though. I re read the whole series from time to time, a new book is being written at the moment, you can read bits on her website. Good stuff, loved it from day 1!

I have a shed load of charity shops up the road but can't go so close to my girlie having a litter so online it is :)

I would recommend all of the above books. The Shining Girls by Lauren Beukes is also pretty good -owing a fair amount to Stephen King but an ingenious thriller none the less. Is a bit gruesome in parts,but not gratuitously so.

p.s my husband gets 'honourable mention' in the foreword of the first CJ Sansom -can't remember which one .

If you have a kindle plenty of free books from daily email from Kindle or the the book tub. Lots also at 49p onwards! I use a combination of Kindle and a real book. Forgot to add Wolf Hall and Bring Up The Bodies for excellent reading and Pet Semarary a great read too.
