> Have you used them Barbara?
Yes as it was Helsinki university that finally found the gene for Glaucoma in the breed.
They already had a breed specific Dwarfism test (not much of a concern for the UK, and in any event all pups bred in UK go for pets, and the form of dwarfism only gave short legs).
They were able to add a less common (early onset) form of PRA known in the breed. So three known breed specific for less than the cost for prcd alone.
Once we started testing we discovered a previously unknown gene mutation in the breed for Von Willebrands Type II, original6y thought to be confined to German Pointers, then found in Pointers and Rough and Smooth collies.
Since it was found in my breed it has also shown up in Old English, Lagottas, so probably much wider spread, but of low enough incidence to not yet be noticed.
This is the beauty of Panel testing, mutations can be picked up before they b3ecoem common in a breed and careful; breeding can eliminate pr9oduceing affecteds and keep carriers low or eliminate them eventually.
