A friend is renewing/rearranging her policies and has been told there is a blanket exclusion on cruciate ligament surgery. Has anyone got any experience or advice?

There is no exclusion on cruciate  on either of mine and I  with animal friends amd pet plan.i can only imagine there is something in the dogs records pertaining to cruciate which is why a new company or a company of u didnt have lifetime policy wanted to exclude. The only other thing I can think of is its an animal policy with very low cover but even then I haven't come across that before

Apparently its with More Than. My friend has been with them for years. This years renewal has increased by £25, but to start a new policy with the same company is only £6 more than last year, but they will exclude cruciate ligament surgery while it's still covered if just renewing the old policy at an extra £25. The dog does not have any history relating to the cruciates or anything else for that matter. Interesting.......

my cats and dogs are with aniaml friends .i did have them with tesco .my big fat cat k9 had kidney issues he now fine.teaco said his insurnce policy would go up becuse of it so changed to aniaml friends told them k9 had been treated for kidney issus they said their was no probs and no extra charge
same when my horse had couple injuries aniaml friends said their would be no extra charge
pets at home are really good for.insurace

I would want to ask more questions something doesn't add up.did ur. Friend ask if they are doing this for all.new clients ? Also assuming dog hasn't got a claims history how about trying a few others.becareful with more that to explain u want their lifetime policy theu have only fairly recently got one and it's easy to get the wrong quote

I'm with more than for my boy and both cats. I have found them helpful and efficency and no hassle paying out on a claim. The last claim went on over 4 weeks of back and forth and tests/different medicines they never hassled me and always helped. So at the moment I'm happy with them.

I looked at the policy document online for More Than, the exclusion for cruciate problems is on the list. So there you go. Anyhoo, she's taking advice on fb too, so at the moment is in a quandry. Mine are not insured, couldn't afford it, luckily never needed it but I imagine it would feel very precarious if you've always had that safety net to suddenly do without.

wow that is new and naughty but it will be on claims experience if its general exclusion for all. Def have a look at other companies. I now prefer to go with companies that specialise in pet insurance eg pet plan as at least they are less likely to pull out than those who do different types of business as some have done. This leaves you high and dry
