Similar issue with a grooming table recently bought on Amazon via a Chinese company. There was damage to a wire tray that sits under the table. We sent photos and the company offered a 50% refund on the table. So in all fairness it wasn't a bad deal. It's probably the quickest way to resolve an issue.

How I reacted to all this would depend on the money involved - cost of the lights.    Sometimes it's best to learn by mistakes, not repeat and move on.   I guess they are entitled to ask for proof of an incorrect delivery although most reputable companies would accept what you say, and replace, with or without the original order being returned.

I work in tele and online sales, and whilst the DSR are usually on the purchasers side, the purchaser has to also realise they have certain responsibility aswell, and although it can happen where a mistake is made on the sellers part of an item, as the seller (under the DSR) they would have to re-imburse for returns postage etc, so tbh it's a fair question to ask to provide photographic evidence to prove that the seller is in the wrong

If I've been sent a wrong item I normally offer to take a photo to send to them when I notify them. Hopefully to stop them asking to have everything returned at my expense for them to send the correct item. So much less hassle doing photo.

Being in C.I. I order loads of stuff and have always got correct item sent when sending photo without having to return wrong item. For some reason this happens a lot with engraving on dog tags. I have half a doz with wrong phone number or name on lol

Wish I had thought of photos this summer when I ordered 3 pairs of identical trousers from ASDA online. 3 pairs arrived. One was correct, the other two were a different colour AND 3 sizes smaller! I've never had a refund despite repeated complaints.

I spent almost £300 at Cruft's one year, on the Tuffies stand.  The 2 beds were over £100 pounds each, and the covers were expensive too.  I sent a photo when I had struggled for so long trying to put a cover back on after washing it.  One of the beds went all scrunched and full of ridges.

I put up with loads of nasty emails from the lady owner.  She wanted me to post everything back at my own expense!  Can you imagine what those beds weigh?  And if she wasn't happy when she received the goods, then I would have to send her the money to have them returned.  She was a bitch and upset me so much.

I never recommend any company that doesn't have 1st class customer service.

I think anyone buying from amazon should check if their item is coming from far east, i use amazon, had a couple of things this past week, but some things are sent from HK or China etc, once you know thats the case then its a personal decision to go ahead or not, but check first.

Trading standards would have dealt with that on the 'unfit for purpose' law.
