Hi, is there anyone out there who can help me? I am looking for a puppy finder( individual or business). I wish to buy two puppies and don't live in mainland UK but do of course, want to buy from a reputable breeder. I need someone to research and identify suitable puppies available within the next six months. If you know of someone does this sort of thing I would really appreciate a pointer in the right direction. I've checked all the usual dog sites and can't find anything. I am perfectly happy to pay for this service.
Thanks for any help in advance.

I'm afraid you won't find wellbred puppies from responsible breeders that way. No good breeder would sell two pups at the same time, and nobody would even consider selling a puppy unless they have had quite extensive contact with the actual buyer first -it is you that the breeders will want to get to know, to find out if you would make a suitable owner for one of their pups. Contact breeders, ask lots of questions, and expect to be asked just as many back.

I have one of my puppies on Guernsey. The family visited me before my bitch was pregnant, they arranged to come over to the UK a day early before going on holiday from Gatwick. I then delivered the pup with my husband on a day trip to the Island so I could see where they lived. As mentioned, no good breeder would sell you 2 puppies at the same time. I always recommend an age gap of at least 18 months. Are you not interested in meeting Mum in her own home, seeing how she lives and where your puppy would be raised?

Your post also sounds a bit vague. Two puppies for pets or are u looking for something else ? What breed ? As.peope have said chosing a dog is not something that should be down at a distance and through someone else. It's something u need to be very hands on for all concerned
It's a very personal  experience amd meds tp be.i also agree about not having two pups together .

There's two and a half years between my two and that has worked well. They both got lots of individual attention when young and both went through from puppy class to gold KCGC. I saw litter mates at puppy training both times, their owners really struggled to get them to concentrate as they didn't like being separated from their sibling. It seemed a lot harder to train them properly compared to the rest of us who were able to give undivided attention to their pups. Also my older dog was very helpful when it came to showing the ropes to the younger one!

As others have said no reputable breeder would sell you a puppy threw a second party. Also many will have waiting lists as they don't breed alot. Which is why there isn't realy a service like that out there for well bred puppies, only the animal dealers who either supply petshops or sell online/in papers who get the puppies from puppy farms or irresponsible breeders.

If you want one from a good breeder depending on the breed it can be easyer to not look for a puppy but to look for a breeder. Then Waite For their next litter.
Check the kennel club site to see what health testing the breed needs, then look threw the breeders list on the kennel club, champdogs and the breed clubs to find breeders who health test.
Once you have a list contact some and ask them about themselves and their dogs and tell them about yourself.

Thanks to all for your comments. I am just information gathering at the moment so your thoughts are helpful. I was of course intending to visit the breeder, once suitable puppies had been identified but I do take note of the comments about buying the two together. Thanks again.

There are some good breeders in the CI's, might be worth seeking them out in the first instance if they have the breed you want, meeting them and if not happy or no plans for a litter then they could help you find a good breeder on the mainland to communicate and visit with

We're in Guernsey. We were due to visit breeder when puppies were 4 weeks. We unexpectedly ended up near breeder when they were 2 weeks old so phoned on the off chance to visit the next day so save coming 2 weeks later. They said yes which straight away filled me with confidence. We then collected on a weekend when he was 8 weeks old.

biffsmum just being nosey out of interest did new owners pay for your trip to come over ? I'm liking that idea of breeder coming over on a trip I'd be happy to pay to save hassle of doing 2 trips

Anyone know of breeder of miniature poodles in Guernsey or Jersey ? I cant find one but doesn't mean there isn't one, don't know if you don't ask.

One puppy is hard work, I wouldn't want to take on 2 of same age

Hi Schnauday, my puppy buyers did buy our ferry ticket as it worked out so much cheaper for them if we delivered the puppy on a day trip fare. If they had come over to the mainland it would have involved an evening ferry trip, overnight hotel accommodation and we would have had to meet them before the 9 am sailing, sorted all the paper work etc in a mad rush so they didn't miss the ferry back.
As they said the ferries work to bring people to the Islands not to help the Islanders

Without reading the answers to this one, I don't think you'll find a business that would do this for you.  When we were in Canada and I wanted a UK-bred foundation bitch, I approached a breeder I knew well, with the bloodlines I wanted for a puppy.   She always said she preferred people to go there and choose the puppy they wanted (wise!) but as I couldn't get back and was happy to accept her choice for me, left it to her.  However, she got together with another friend/breeder (I'd bought our second hound from her - he was sired by a dog owned by the breeder I was buying my bitch from) and between them, they decided which bitch they felt was best for me, and sent her out.

I think you either have to find a fellow-breeder to act as an agent for you, or come to the UK and pick your puppy!!

And don't buy two together - reputable breeders know what a mistake this can be especially if you are not very experienced.

I have to say, that although I would not sell  two puppies from the same litter, I bought litter sisters 11 years ago,. I am an experienced owner and knew the breeders well. They have been such a joy to me and although we lost one of our girls at the the age of 4 due to eating seaweed, I would not change a thing. We still have our old lady who is now 11 .

Best to contact the Jersey kennel club, http://www.kennelclub.org.je/index.php/aboutus/kennel-club-of-jersey/108-kennel-club-of-jesey and
The Guernsey kennel Club http://www.guernseykennelclub.org.gg/

they may have a  list

biffsmum those were exactly my thoughts as to why it was a good idea  There are always cheap weekends away for UK to Guernsey but none for Guernsey to UK:sad:

Thanks Brainless I've looked previously on both those sites to see if anyone is showing miniature poodles. I thought maybe they could be breeding or point me in the direction of the breeder their dog came from. Unfortunately all I found was one standard being shown and their breeder only breeds standards in UK. Might be worth dropping them an email though.
