I noticed an hour ago that my 16 month old has droopy boobs on one side and whizzed her straight to the vet as I was worried it was an infection. Apparently it's a phantom pregnancy (can't be a real one as she came in season late July). Vet says it should sort itself out and not to touch it, also to watch out for mastitis. Has anyone experienced this and if so what advice would you give? Thanks in advance.
Mine had one a month after shed last season, I think she may be having a slight one this time.
Less food and more exersize. To help discourage more milk production and tighten her back up. You can use medicine called galastop to dry her up if you wish.
Thanks for replying Jo, it's much appreciated, I will do as you suggest. She's not quite herself today, very quiet and not interested in the ball just in mooching about. It's currently only affecting one or two teats so I am hoping it doesn't spread.
Mine was acting normaly but I noticed her back tears were getting saggy. Took her in to be checked and she had milk. We had the galastop which was 5 days of oral stuff. After a week I noticed they were going back, I'd say by two weeks she was basically back to normal.
Thank you! She does seem a lot brighter this afternoon, and I think the teats are a little less droopy, but i could be imagining it! Eternal optimist you see.
We went for a long walk in the rain, we were all soaked when we got back! I will try some trick training, she's a sharp little cookie and picks things up quite quickly.
