My girl has not had a season for 18 months. Her son, now aged 15 months has started to take an interest in her over the last week and she is snapping at him when he goes near her. They are kept apart except when under close supervision. There are no other signs of a season except my other boys have a good sniff when she pees. I am keeping her apart from all the boys as I have a nice stud lined up for her when she does come in. Does this sound like she is near or could there be another reason she is more attractive?
When my dog was coming up to her first season, she's since been spayed, other bitches started to take a very keen interest in her, some even humping her, about three weeks beforehand The males didn't start to show an interest until she was within a day or so of starting.
My boy gives me about a 4 week warning when my girl is due in season. Starts off with wee licking and dribbling then during play, he gets a little fruity. This goes on and off for about 3 weeks. The final week before she comes in, he settles down and waits then. He'll lie next to her during her first couple of days in and protect her from the other boy (then he sulks like crazy because he gets sent on holiday to my dad's).
