On day 12 got a tie on day 10 I put her to mums last night to give them a break. Just picked her up & he's crying & desperate to get ok her. She will stand but is growling at him. Not sure weather to intervene or that's it.

Watch and see, sometimes they can be a bit easy there boy, when the dog is too full on, and are happy to be mated when he calms down.
If after half an hour she is still telling him to get lost, then that's probably that.
Males will often be really desperate for a bitch when she is going over as they want to ensure they get there in time.

Ok thank you xx
I'm assuming since we got a tie on day 10 that was a good sign & now she's done? If she doesn't let him, he's standing over her crying & she's trying to sleep lol!!

did you say you also had slip matings before day 10?
as I'd normally expect a bitch to be receptive more than a day, but you do get some.

Yes we had slips yesterday before she left. He got one this morning too, he did the ladder climb & came off no tie.

Did you not hold him, to stop him pulling out prematurely?

Yes I was trying too but it wasn't easy. Like last time. He's just inconsolable.
I'm assuming since we got a tie on day 10 that was a good sign & now she's done? No, don't assume that. I've several times had bitches allow one mating around day 9 or 10 then go off (or indeed the dog not being interested) only to be properly ready around day 15 or so -and when mated and later scanned it became obvious the mating that took was the later one.

Ok thank you.
He's still just desperate. She's standing & they just had another slip. Just as I got to him (was in toilet) He did the "ladder climb" and came out all enlarged. They was also some watery blood on the floor.

If you got one, or even more 'good matings' (and that doesn't always have to be with a tie!) why not remove him from her totally now? Frankly if she's over, she will see him off (do you want to risk him being injured even if, if this happens, it should shut him down faster than any thing you can do!). Normally experienced stud dogs know when they have done their job and don't get 'stupid silly' over a bitch to the point she has to be seeing him off.
In this case, she doesn't need to be pestered, and he doesn't need to be getting so worked up that he blows up outside. How you handle a stud dog, and a bitch in season, is totally up to you.
ps If you continue to let them mate, trying to work out her due date is going to be next to impossible!!

Could the stud owner not have come over last night? Have you asked the stud owner regarding how long to carry on for? Or take him away 24 hours then retry?

She lives 2 hours away & works during the day so that's not really a option. That's why I out my girl away last night

Thanks mamabas
Yeah I think I will take him home tomorrow. I'm just worried we are too early & she will be more ready at the wkend. I thought if they tied it was a good indication she was ready.

When I have had stud dogs to stay they have always stayed 2-3 weeks. One was not interested in the bitch at all despite her flagging like mad AND she managed to tie with my neutered dog by accident day 8. Then suddenly on day 14 THEN the stud dog was interested and mated and tied two days in a row.

It's hard to know what to do as he's just obsessed with her (he's proven) she's a maiden. I duno if that's it or she's just unsure how this goes.

Do not leave them unsupervised, then you would not have missed the slip mating.
The stud dog owner should be able to guide you as to his normal behaviour during a bitches season and when he mates.

I realise all breeds are different but because I have never mated one of mine with success before day 15 it sounds too early to me.
I have always taken mine to the stud but in your case I would not leave them together all the time ( too dangerous) but would introduce them to each other perhaps
a couple of times a day for the next few days at least.

Got our second tie!!!! Hurrah. Was for about 10 minutes he went at it and then almost collapsed on her for about 2/3 minutes I didn't want to intervene as they looked comfortable. Then they moved & stood locked. She was so calm & started licking the wall

I gave them support by having my hand under her & I could feel her contracting.
Both sound asleep now.

When the stud & bitch is in the same household/staying with the bitch owner, it is good stud practice to not leave the dog and bitch together all the time. A supervised liaison 1 maybe 2 times in any one day is best. Other times of the day they ideally should be separate, this way you don't get any wasted attempts & a better mating when they do get to meet each other.
I unusually had the stud to my last litter, stay for a week(due to his owner being on hols at the right time for mating). I let him with the bitch once on day 13 & once on day 15. He arrived to us on her 12th day & left on her 21st day. He was an experienced male & my bitch was a maiden & both matings were with a lengthy tie(not that they are needed for a resulting litter).

Yeah they've never been unsupervised & he only gets to her if we see her standing & try to help. Time will tell now. He's defo not as frantic around her so hopefully they are successful.

As you have had god matings day 10 and 12, I'd try them again day 14, and if successful check on day 16 to see if she has gone over (I rather think she will tell him where to go by then or he won't be interested).
Like Hazanaide mine are usually not ready until day 15 or later.

Yes I shall see what tomo brings. He's scheduled to go home tomo, would they still tie if she wasn't ready & it was too early?

Third tie was achieved today. Was approximately 8/10 minutes long, same as before. He's due to go home tomorrow & I'm fine with that. I think they've done enough now. His frantic behaviour has lessened so fingers crossed.

Best to ask the stud dog owner, if this is what they'd expect to see from him when a bitch has gone over.

She said just the usual. Not that interested anymore. He's defo less bothered about her. Has been smelling her today but no attempt to mount her etc.

sounds good, now time will tell

Hi guys
Just wanted to check, since 1st tie 8 days ago my bitch has been having a brown discharge. It's not a lot & doesn't smell. Obviously this is probably the end of her season. But I don't recall it last few times. It more or less went light pink then disappeared. She's perfectly fine in herself.

I expect my girls to go on bleeding to the end of their seasons, often after mating it is brighter red and then peters out to brown.
