HI all
We are expecting a singeton puppy due tomorrow, no signs of labour yet, bitch has had previous litters (2) which she had on day 63 both times.
How long would you let her go over? Going out of my mind with worry. Scan last week showed good healthy strong heartbeat, and i have felt small movements from the pup.
Driving myself mad here, worrying!

So, Wednesday we (me and vet) checked the bitch, all OK no discharge, puppy still had a good heartbeat and temperature normal, we decided to let her go until Thursday. Thursday morning nothing much was happening, but I could just tell something wasn't right, bitch wasn't showing any obvious distress symptoms but she just had that look, so scheduled a c-section for 1030am, by 930 we had a horrid puss discharge so we rushed her down.
We managed to get out a very tiny puppy, who is a fighter almost half the size of my average puppies, and has survived 24 hours so far- please pray for her, she is perfect.
The vet was astonished that the baby girl was alive, the whole horn was infected, (from reabsorbed puppies) the other horn was inflamed and her abdomen had started to fill with puss, so the decision was made to spay her at the same time to reduce infection risk.
Thankfully the mother is doing well (if very sore) she inst sure what to do with herself, she wants to look after baby, but is obviously sore when she moves.
They are not out of the woods yet, so any prayers are gratefully received.
I just thought I would update you all, at present both mum and baby are doing ok but i know we have a long road ahead of us.
