I have a 7 year old male Pedigree Dog and would like a bitch of the same for breed. I live on Anglesey and was wondering if anyone had one for breeding nearby? Many thanks.

Hi cymrodywg 7 is rather old for a first time stud dog (assuming he is maiden) but more importantly, reputable breeders will want to use stud dogs that have a proven record of success either in the showring or the working field. Plus they will want good results fron the dogs KC/ BVA health screening tests. Only back yard breeders are likely to be  remotely interested in your situation.

Sorry not finished, problems with my tablet.
So in effect you will likely have difficulties finding an estabished reputable breeder interested in using your dog. If your intention is to obtain a puppy, then your best bet is to buy in. By far the easiest option. Sorry, probably not what you hoped to hear, but nevertheless you must be realistic.

Should I Offer My Dog For Stud - this is worth reading too, to give you more information.

You have to think long and hard about the changes in your boy once he has covered a bitch.  He is very likely to start lifting his leg everywhere in your house.   He will want to keep leaving his scent around.

And he'll be looking for the next bitch, who is unlikely to be there!!

Why - when you've lived for 6.5 years, or thereabouts, with your dog without the need for this?    It's a tad old for a first-time mating (assuming it is) in any case.   People think dogs will automatically be able to perform, but quite often are disappointed.    If your dog had been shown with success, and was a top quality representative of his breed, you'd have had interest from people with equally good bitches by now, much as knowledgeable people tend to go to the sire of the son, who has a proven track record.   Once you have opened Pandora's Box, you may live to regret it.   Believe me.   Not to ignore the fact that the owner of the stud dog is 50% responsible for the quality of his offspring so you'd need to know a bit about what any mating might be likely to produce, which means understanding the breed, and looking at pedigrees.   And even then, the best laid plans don't always work out.

So very true.  I've heard of quite a few pet owners that have tried and found that their pet dog is not up to the job.  The funniest was a lady who worshipped her boy and couldn't understand it.  "Because he was always humping his toy bunny rabbit."

I just cracked up with that one.

I have this image now in my head of dog and "bunny!". Quite put me off using my heat wheat germ pain relief in disguise of a purple bunny!

I do know what that woman does, but I'm ashamed to admit that I don't know another sort of bunny.  It is awful being this old and having lived a very sheltered life.  I feel that I must be missing out somehow.

I'd prefer to be sheltered than walking round a corner and getting a whole windows full of that Ann woman!
Prior to back surgery a friend brought me a heat up pad wheat germ stuffed inside a purple bunny. Every time I popped him in the microwave to heat up I'd apologise "sorry bunny" as he twirled round inside the microwave. It felt like fatal attraction.
