Have you got the "book of the bitch" by Kay White and Jim Evans - its the dog breeders "bible". For bedding - get some good quality veterinary bedding - there is nothing to beat it and will last for years.

Hi Westie lover
I agree..get the book of the bitch, don't know what I would have done without it...i still read it now and could probably re write it cover to cover. And vet bed is brill :)

Re Book of the bitch. The copy I have was published in 1988, and has (I beleive Cassie the Beardie that won Crufts and her pups on the cover), and I bought it in '89 (bred first litter in '95)!!!

I lent it to someone having a litter in 90 and got it back with the cover torn.

I think I saw a hard backed edition with a lab/golden? on the cover!

What is the latest enprint, and is it hard cover, as I would like to treat myself to an updated version. hHas it been rewritten, or just reprinted?

I would like a hardback edition, do you know where I can get it? My old edition was leant to a freind and the cover is very dog eared!

I've only ever seen the paper backed version Barbara :(

I would think that if you went in a book store and gave them the details they could order a hard backed version (if still bound that way) for you :)

I got my heat lamp from Oakenshaw & Allbrooks. I also bought a heat pad from them with I have found be be priceless when it come to whelping puppies. I have lent it to several of my friends when they were having puppies and was told if it hadn't have been for the heat pad I could so easily have lost the litter. If you want to know please feel free to get in touch or anybody else for that matter. Good luck with the puppies.
