I've had a bit of a look around and I'm surprised (and sad) to see that some breeds, including the popular ones, have kept the genetic, vague KC code of ethics, whereas others (some popular, some rare) have really elaborated and made it perfectly clear exactly what is expected of members, not just in breeding but in some cases right down to sportsmanship.
I would like to see the COE changed in my breed but obviously wording is very important so I thought I'd post to get a wide view. I personally feel the COE in the clubs could be much more specific and clear but in order to move forward I need to present something for the members to consider.
Can you please post your breed, which breed club/s you are quoting from, and any changes from the default COE found here
http://www.thekennelclub.org.uk/breeding/breeding-from-your-dog/kennel-club-code-of-ethics/ with any comments you have on these changes (good or bad) and/or what you would like to see included or not included. I am specifically interested in variations/elaborations on the (imo wishy washy) "Will agree not to breed from a dog or bitch which could be in any way harmful to the dog or to the breed" but it does not need to be limited to this at all.
I don't plan to use this in a "Well X club does this so its better" sort of way, simply "the COE for X club states [this], Y club [that] and Z club [t'other], what are your feelings on having something like this implemented".
Thanks :)
