first want to say sorry for any bad spelling!  Hope this is posted in the right place as I'm new here :)
For a long time now I have wanted a Staffordshire Bull terrier and have done research for about nearly a year on the breed now but don't want to rush into anything as we already have FIVE dogs!! I love the breed and have never had a bad experience with them, there just something about theme the really are beautiful looking :P my mam is abit nervous about the breed but has experience with dobies so definitely
We are not novice dog owners.. The only thing the concerned  and it's fairly big (because if we do go and get a staffy I won't to be 100% prprepared) is our other five dogs witch are ;
Kylie she's a 5 year old golden retriver she has a lovely temperament and is good with other dogs! Has never been in a fight but she won't let herself be walked over, she's an indoor dog also
Cofy;nearly 2 year male golden retriver still young and goofy placid temperament get along 100% with our current dogs playful - outside dog
INDY; male nearly 5 golden retriver his a sound dog but like his own space most of the time his abit picky about other dogs he dosent start fights but seems to be a dog that gets picked on was bite when younger so not 100 percent with dogs except with cofy who are together 24/7 they would be lost without eachother he gets along fine with dogs once the don't annoy him -outside dog
Sasha; 13 year old male jack Russell cross Yorkshire his very old (I'm worried about him) his good with other dogs but can be a little territorial to other dogs especially bigger ones! But backs off when his told to ;) his getting Very old I think tbh his going blind in one eye and sleeps alot he use to be brillant around dogs but with age he has become a little grumpy! Yappy but has never been in a fight!! -Inside dog
Taffy ; 12 month male shih tzu cross maltese gets along brilliant with All dogs except indy.. His abit yappy aswell and barks into indys face so taffy can Be annoying otherwise he gets along fine with the dogs has never been in a fight and is sound with dogs while on walks aswell -Inside dog (plan get him neutered)

Any advise would be great!! was more than likely going to get a female staffy if I was to..if that matters

Staffs are lovely dogs that often get a bad pressainly due to bad owners. I can't see why a staff won't fit into your family like any dog they will need kind consistent training .as I expect you know they can be quite bouncy but as you say q well breed and well bought up staff is lovel . I would however do you research and male sure you either get a pup from a breeder who health tests and knowledgeable about the breed or if u are looking to rescue male sure u know as much as possible about its back ground and any needs it may have

Most Stafford owners/breeders I have met tell me they would never have them with another dog of their own sex unattended, often not with any other dog without supervision.

I don't think this breed a god choice for a multi dog household, where dos twill not be easily segregated.

Can I ask why you want to add another dog ? You already have quite a varied pack and putting another dog into the mix make just upset the apple cart.

Looking after multiple dogs, is hard work, and each one will need individual attention, a new puppy will take up a lot of time and may mean you don't have as much time to spend with your existing dogs. Also you have to consider the cost of food and vet fees for all the dogs, especially as they get older they may need medical attention which can be expensive.

To be honest I am not sure if a Staffordshire bull terrier would be the right breed to introduce to your existing mix, and you would need to be very careful where you purchased one from so that you know what the temperament would be like.
Have met quite a few over the years, some have been absolutely lovely, but have also met some horrors that are very unpredictable around other breeds.

With a set pack who are happy with each other, various ages and mixed sexes I personally wouldn't put a Stafford into the mix at all.
They aren't always the best with those of the same sex, it's one thing them getting on with dogs maybe in the park or day care but a whole different ball game at home when their 'humans' are about.
With your old terrier cross if you're worried about him and he's not doing so well then I wouldn't even consider a puppy unless you have the set up to keep this pup well away from him, also the old boy won't want his whole life distrusted esp if he's going blind as the reactions of a dog going blind and utter confusion won't help him on it's own let alone a young upstart of a bolshy breed

I'd also say you already have too many young dogs, a 2 or three year gap between each is best.

I have 6 dogs ages 11 weeks to 12 years, but the hardest has been the two sets of two that are just 15 and 19 months apart in age.

Prior to that they have always been 2 to 4 years apart in age and so much less competition, and better behaved dogs (I now have an issue with the 4 1/2 and 3 year old and frustrated greeting barking, the younger learnt from the slightly less dog sure older one).

This means I am avoiding busy dog walking times when taking them all out as I don't want to go down the multiple walks route.

Great advice all round. Would also say that the last thing your elderly JRT probably needs is a young pup, especially with his sight. Staffs can be almost too in your face and an old grouchy dog will not appreciate this.

> and get our youngest more trained

most certainly, you never want to introduce a new puppy until your current or youngest dog has reached a level of training you are confident will not slip, otherwise they revert and become a bad example for new puppy and your trying to train and retrain two.

Takes away a lot of the pleasure.

You also need to bear in mind if you have too many dogs close in age your going to have a house full of old (expensive to keep), and have the heartbreak of loosing them possibly one after the other.

All of this.  My first two dogs were 2.5 months apart, and I lost them both 3 months apart last year.  And I'll likely go through the same again in the future - I've ended up with three 9-10yr olds, all with chronic conditions; 4 and 5yr olds; and two 2yr olds with just a month between them and similar expected lifespans.  If I'd been able to plan my additions I'd have spaced them out better but random, unexpected adoptions of damaged dogs doesn't allow me that luxury

I'm going to add just one more to our household and with three years apart hope in years to come we don't lose both together. I waited three years after my beloved Labrador passed away and We had said five years! I missed the walks, companionship so we well I started looking. I couldn't bear the idea of another Labrador only because it still felt raw and as if I'd compare them? Silly maybe but it's how I felt. I only have to hear Robbie ' s "Only You" song and I'm tearful still!...
