Hi everyone, it doesn't matter how many times i do this, i always get a bit panicked at this stage. My girl is on day 58 today and her waters broke 2 hours ago. We have no contractions, a little bit of heavy panting but no progress. She has eaten and gone to sleep!!
I just called the vet and he said if she is happy and calm then leave her for another hour.
So, my question is - how long is too long after waters have gone and there is no progress?

That's exactly what did happen Brainless! I left it for the extra hour then loaded her into the truck, 10 mins down the road and out came her first puppy.....
I just wanted to share my experience as for the first time i experienced a true breech pup. This was the very last pup and i felt slightly panicked when i realised it was a bottom and tail coming out first. I tried to have a feel for legs but they were well and truly tucked under and it was a big pup, no room to jiggle it about. It was totally stuck.
Mum was getting herself in a bit of a state as she just couldn't push him out. I can remember reading on here, a long time ago that if you have a pup stuck to have a syringe full of lubricant and to try and squeeze it up past the pup (JEAN SW i think). There was no room for the syringe so i filled a feeding tube and used that instead, put a fair amount in and on the next two pushes he came unstuck!!
It's amazing what pieces of information stay in your mind when you need them. We have a happy healthy mum and 9 beautiful babies ;-)
