Topic Dog Boards / Showing / Withdrawing from a class (open show)
- By Ghost [gb] Date 12.07.15 13:13 UTC
Hi all,

Not sure the rules on withdrawing.

I entered my junior bitch in junior and post grad at an open show, along with my elder dog in post grad.
My friend was coming with me to handle one of my dogs in PG - but wasn't able
To come on the day.

Having shown my bitch in junior - and withdrawn her from PG so that I could let my other dog have a show too (being down an handler) can I still be able
To claim my JW point from the junior win?

Yes you can still count the point as long as there were 3 or more dogs present in the class. The only things you must not do, having withdrawn from a breed class, is challenge for Best of Breed and compete any further in the show with the withdrawn dog.

could you not have found a fellow competitor to take your other dog in seems a shame to miss the class.

In my breed we always end up handling other peoples dogs, especially in the challenge if an exhibitor has more than one class winner.

I have even won CC's with other peoples dogs and had others handle mien to the same.

Yes, I've often been sitting ringside and ended up handling other dogs, even with totally different breeds which can be exciting! Don't be afraid to ask around next time. :-)
