Topic Dog Boards / Health / Spay shirts?
- By Nikita [gb] Date 25.06.15 13:12 UTC
Somewhere near the tail end of this year, both my entire girls will be spayed.  I do not believe for one second that either of them will cope in any way, shape or form with the cone of shame and both are too nosy/sneaky/bendy for normal t-shirts, so does anyone have any experience of the full torso post-op shirts available, or could recommend a type etc?

Ta

I haven't used them but a friend of mine has just used the medical pet shirts on two of her large breed and was really pleased with them.

My mum has just had one of her standard poodles "done" and he wore the one piece to stop him licking his bits (well non-bits at this point bless!). It was fab, just has to be rolled and poppered back when he went to wee. He didn't show any interest in it at all :)

I believe she hired it from the vet! So it might be worth asking your vet if they know of this. It's quite expensive to buy, but with hire a deposit was paid and it was returned providing it was clean and not damaged (with a small amount kept for using it).

Both med/large dogs (depending on your perspective!) - one is 24"/20kg, the other 21"/20kg.  I will ask the vet about hiring shirts, if they can spare two at once!
