Hi, im wondering if I can get some advice/opinions as I don't know if im worrying over nothing, my girl was mated 08/06/15 her season sempt to have nearly stopped before mating, after mating she started bleeding again then after 5-7 days it stopped, this week I have noticed a creamy discharge for 2 days then today she has been dropping tiny bits of brownish blood/discharge. she is well in herself, tail wagging, eating, normal temp etc - has anyone ever experienced this before? im going to ring the vets and try to book for today/tomorrow but wanted to see if anyone else could shed any light. Thanks in advance.

I have had bitches bleed to 30 days from start of season and go on to whelp normally if mated, and have no issues re infection when not.

Assuming your bitch was mated mid season then this could still be just the tail end of the season, and mating will often restart the bleeding.

Remember we are checking our mated bitches rears far more after mating probably than normally.

If she is well, the discharge is normal (neutral smelling ) and not excessive, then I'd not worry, just monitor.

My bitches have always been bleeding during and after mating.  And continued to bleed until the normal end of season.  I've never thought twice about it and they've always been pregnant as planned.

Thanks, she was mated on day 16 of her season, she did start bleeding again after mating but that had stopped then a few days later the discharge started.

I took her to the vets they checked her temp etc and all was ok, she has been fine in herself but the discharge has a slight smell so they have put her on a course of synulox. So just got to wait a couple of weeks to scan now.
