When my girl had her first litter she ate well throughout pregnancy and lactation and had no problems. Her second litter she picked at her food in pregnancy and I thought she would be hungry after the pups. She had the same size litter but did not eat well and got an upset tummy for the first week. On day 11 I rushed her o the vets with eclampsia. She responded very well to treatment, her eating was much better, and after not feeding the pups for 12 hours fed them till they were weaned with no problems, just additional calcium tablets.
She has just had her final litter as my vet said it should not be a problem. She ate well in her pregnancy and she now has 1 pup less than before, they are 3 days old and she is eating well and no problems are presenting at this time. I am feeding her Royal Canin Starter and meat, with treats of scrambled egg with goats milk and cheese, and I am giving her Collo-Cal D.
Just wondered if anyone else has any experience of breeding after eclampsia.
