Can someone explain this for me

If it has won any of the following prizes at General and Group Championship Shows, scheduled between 19th January 2015 and 18th January 2016, in non-CC classes for breeds normally allocated Challenge Certificates (provided there are more than three breed classes or more than five classes for Stud Book Band E breeds).

First, Second or Third in Puppy Class
First, Second or Third in Junior Class

Seems to have sneeked in! Asking as I have a friend who's breed is offered CCs (band a and had 8 classes anyway) and recently got a 1st in junior at a champ Show but there weren't CCs on offer that day.

Discussed at ring craft last night and we thought that would class as qualification because of this new rule. Thoughts?

Because you would not normally have a Limit class at a championship show with no CCs. I've never known anything but Puppy, Junior, Post Grad and Open under those circumstances, occasionally veteran as well.

I've never understood it as those are the breeds where you can qualify anything anyway, whether it is show quality or not. They would have done more good by increasing the ways to qualify the strong breeds that have class entries of 20-30 per class at every championship show. Not the ones, as now, where you are guaranteed to qualify just by turning up.....

We do, (had them at Southern and Three counties, and definitely at Birmingham City, probably others) if we didn't the entry would be awful, as we are a top heavy breed with most exhibits in Limit and Open.

Those have CC's at most shows and where not will have the number of classes to count without CC's, even we have 5+ classes without CC's

It pretty much means you can qualify at al champ shows (except in Limit???)

Strange -we've never had Limit at any show without tickets. Most of our entries are in Open at all shows other than ticket shows.

I think it's up to yoru breed class to ask for the classification, though I suppose it depends how many classes they will be willignt o put on.

The ones listed above pretty much had the full complement of classes that we usually have at Champ shows with CC's, just no CC's available

You must get pretty good entries then in Elkhounds? It wouldn't do us any good to have more classes as a typical championship show without tickets will have 1-3 entries, a good entry would be 6, and a championship show with tickets these days seldom hit 20 entries, more likely 12-15 -even Crufts had only just over 20 this year.

Our favourite non CC shows tend to have 15 - 20 dogs entered, but sadly in recent times some of our less central/midweek CC shows have had the same or less.

With UK judges we had 10 entered for Bath with CC's and 5 days later at Southern counties 18. 

Only 9 at SKC, but also 9 at Three counties.

Wow -the breed is doing really well. We had 179 registrations last year!! But so few people want to show, and of course the great majority of pups born are from working lines so not show quality.

Only because we keep showing our dog to around 12 years of age.

Hopefully we should have a crop of youngsters out for LKA, as we had a hiatus in breeding for nearly a year since they discovered the Glaucoma gene June 2014, and found the carrier rate to be over 25%, so we have ben waiting for Genscoper to make the test available, finally came on stream 1st May.

Even though we are a little known breed we have plenty of people wanting one as a pet, (they are great family dogs) as you say it's getting people more seriously involved that is the problem, and get people showing.  Then of those showing getting anyone to breed, (responsibly) or allow their dog to be used at stud, the cost of health testing is off putting to many as most males will be used rarely.

It's a breed that can start late in the ring and do well, but so often by then the vets have persuade owners to neuter.

We have about 300 registrations a year but they are mostly pets. Since showing it seems our Non-CC shows have about 15 entries (with only 6 or so attending) and CC shows have about 20/25ish entries. Crufts was the most with 34!
