We have a new family member a miniature smooth haired dachshund who had her second vaccinations yesterday and can finally go out for walkies in a week. She currently weighs just over 2.5kg and I am having trouble finding a suitable harness that she cannot back out of and wont rub her thin skin to pieces. I really do not want her first walks to put any pressure on her tiny little neck using just her collar. Ive had Red Dingo harnesses in the past and they are really quite abrasive, same as with the Rogz ones, seems to be where they do the sewing. Looked at the Puppia ones and not sure that she wouldnt just back out of it, the neck part may also impact upon her shoulders as well. Edited to say that her girth measurement is only 33cm, so you can see how tiddly she is.

Any suggestions please?

I use a Puppia for my Papillon who has had neck problems and he's been absolutely fine with it. They are very soft and I don't see how they could come off.

Me too I love the puppia ones. Doubt she could back out if its the right size but for safety you could use a double ended halti training lead the thinner ones attached to her collar and then the other end to the harness

Thank you for your help, I ordered a small puppia which was far too big, but an xs fits just right. However, she now believes that none of her legs work whilst wearing it and just stands there, frozen! Work in progress ha ha

If she is a bit of a foodie it may be worth putting it on her when she is fed - or to have a game with her, without a lead, just to get used to the feel of it.
