Do Endorsements need to be explained or is it okay to just give a piece of paper and say " sign here" !!??

Endorsments need to be explained in full verbally and written. On my sale contract it is all there. Purchaser(s) signs as do I they have copy as I do

I can't find anything that says they have to be explained verbally and presumably you read anything that you sign and if not understood, ask? There is a leaflet all about endorsements which answers pretty much all questions:

What happens in a case where the breeder sells the dog/ puppy and he has not Registered it  or the rest of the with the KC.  So it is not in his possession...Will the KC lift then?

Yes the dog HAS to still be physically with the breeder to be endorsed. A friend of mine had it happen -she was late in registering a litter and did it after the pups has been sold and the KC removed all the endorsements (entire litter) because of that.

The puppy is in the breeders possession at time of being bought and if the fact that the pup will be endorsed is put in writing and signed for, then a delay in registration changes nothing, though the buyer should be provided with a note in writing that registration papers will follow.

I have a friend in this situation, bitch imported in whelp, mistakes in new ownership details on foreign paperwork re names and addresses. Then ages to get certified pedigree, finally the bitch can now be registered, but her five week old litter cannot as still waiting on one of four stud dog owner signatures, and then of course the joint owner of the bitch has to sign the application.

AS the registrations will need to be done off line it is doubtful that the papers will arrive before pups go to new homes.

Did she have contracts signed by owners that pups would be endorsed??

Yes she did have contracts but as the pups weren't in her possession, that was it.

But it clearly states in the KC Rules and Regs re Endorsements that the puppy/ puppies have to be in the possesion of the breeder ..if not he cannot endorse them.  At least that is how I read it.

It's a bit worrying if for technical reasons paperwork/registration hasn't been processed when pups are picked up, but the owners sign they are aware pups are going to be endorsed should hold.

Kirsty your situation is different you did not sign for ednorsemetns so the KC should find in yoru favour.

Looks like I might advise my friend to hang onto pups until registrations processed, even if it delays their homing..

They are so quick these days, though. When I sent regs off in the post on a Monday recently, the pups were registered on the Wednesday and in MyKC. Did another litter the same day online and they took until the Friday to appear in MyKC. I had all paperwork within days -in fact the very next day for the online litter. I had worried I wouldn't get it in time for the new litter to go as I couldn't apply until they were 6 weeks old due to waiting for my ABS inspection but it turned out to be plenty of time despite the first pup going at 7 weeks 2 days old.

Trouble is with an import you have to do it snail mail.  Seems that the application for the dam has got lsot from being signed by her co-owner and being sent to my friend.

She had a recorded delivery card yesterday saying it had been left at the pub, but it wasn't there when she checked last night she is hoping morning staff may have put it somewhere.

The stud dog owners have finally all signed the litter application, and ti now has to be sent from US to UK.

Then both she and co-owner need to sign, so more delay, though if it gets her before weekend co-owner coming to see pups this weekend.

Pups were 5 weeks yesterday.

I did ring and warn her.  I assume as long as KC have processed the reg, even if the papers don't reach her she will be OK.

I'd have to suggest that anybody who just signs, without reading the 'small print' and understand it, is an idiot.  Yes, of course what the endorsements used mean, should be fully explained before pen is put to paper.   Isn't that up to the breeder who is selling the puppy?
