Came home from an hours shopping yesterday to find my 11 week old puppy had gone into a duffle bag on the floor(one I could have sworn was zipped up) and got out a bottle of liquid black shoe polish.
Which she then proceeded to pirce, then carry round the room (light terracoota carpet!!!!!!!!!) dripping black shoe polish as she went. Then she walked through the puddles and trod littel black footprints through the rest of the house.

I realsie its my fault for leaving the bag on the floor and am not overly concerned about the carpets (although I had to hide her from my fiancee who was ready to kill her.) but should I be concerned about her.
I immediately checked in her mouth and there was no sign of any polish (i had horrible visions of a black mouth and tounge) and the amount on the carpet makes me think she cant have swallowed that much but should I take her to the vets and have her checked out anyway??????????????

My fiancee says I'm too protective of her but I think he's just still angry with her so I'm not listening to him

How is she today? I would keep an eye on her, but if she wasn't sick or anything during the night she will probably be okay - but never hurts if you're unsure to take her to the vets.

Just a word on whether the bag was zipped up or not - puppies can be crafty - mine could unzip bags, but if they want something bad enough they WILL chew through the bag - so it's never safe to leave anything in a place they can reach that you don't want them to have.

I was mostly speaking figuratively about any pups chewing through a bag rather than about my own. I grew up with pups, so learned at a very young age that anything they could touch they could destroy LOL

Tell me about it.

I've well and truly learnt my lesson.
Had a massive tidy up last night and picked everything up off the floor.

What makes it worse is that the bag was in the bedroom upstairs and we have a stair gate so hadnt bothered puppy proofing upstairs. Someone the crafty little thing got through the gate. She must have held her breath cos shes got the podgiest little tummy ever.
