Hi all,
Looking for advice on my Yorkies ears, have noticed an odour from her ears, have looked inside them and can't see anything, they appear to be clean, and have wiped in and around the inside with baby wipes, still there.
Have had Yorkies in the past with smelly ears, but only as they grew older, took them to the vets who gave me ear drops and advised me to clean them out.
Don't want a trip to the vets if it can be avoided, have any other Yorkie owners experienced this ?
Thanks

I havent got yorkies but i have an afghan...they have similar ear type, flopped over, for want of a more technical term! She needs regular ear drops to ensure ear hygeine, even if no visible wax, if yours is getting symptoms like scratching, head shaking, smells, its likely an infection and may need antibiotics, I would go to the vet this time, and stock up on stuff, prolonged infection may lead to deafness.

Hi Yorkiedad, I have a Yorkie, but haven't had this problem, but my vet did tell me if ever she has an odor from her ears to bring her in that it is probably an infection. Shirl

Hi all,
Thanks for the replies,
Looks like a quick visit to the vets is in order, to be on the safe side, although i dont particularly want to take her as she , and us, had a bad experience with a chip the vet was putting in.

Thanks
