Anyone got any knowledge/experience of these?

Purely research, this is one of those breeds that has struck me from the first look.  Really stunning dogs and just for fun, I'd like to know more!

Breeder near me has them Meg Purnell Carpenter Overhill

Funnily enough I was looking at these today at the show. Nice looking dogs. the only thing I didn't like was the huge double dew claws they have on the back legs. Really obvious because they are short coated and to me they seem to make the movement awkward as if the claws are interfering with the hind leg action.

Yes and they are a required breed feature!  They are related to the Briard which also has this feature.

From what I've seen you need to be very careful re temperament

Would be a long way for you to travel, but probably the best place to see them is at the Beauceron club show & companion show held every July near Bristol.

I knew one for years, he was from the breeder mentioned, his nickname all his life was Idiot as that's what he could be like -whether he was typical or not I don't know but owner is experienced and she has not wanted another since he died, she's stuck to Dobermanns.

I seem to be attracted to the harder types!  If not for my not-up-to-par fencing I'd probably have squeezed in an anatolian before now, so the more challenging types don't faze me.  Certainly not since owning Phoebe, and now Ren too.

In any case it's all conjecture - as and when I add the next future dog to the mix here, it'll be after I've lost at least two of my current dogs and then it'll be another dobe I'll be looking for so then it'll be a fair while I expect before I can look again.  I'm wanting to get down to six dogs total so we're talking years before I look for the dobe so at present, it is all just research for fun.

I help run a 'fun' agility class, for the Midland Counties GSD Association (Derby) Branch. We accept any breed and a male Beauceron is one of our members. To be honest last year, as a youngster, he was a nightmare and very intimidating around other dogs and people. He was trained mainly by the husband, who did know how to handle him, but his wife was not so strong or confident. The dog ran rings round her. However, the husband has put a lot of hard work in, obedience wise, and I have seen a huge improvement this year. We only train in the summer, as the agility is outside, so I hadn't seen him for around 8 months. I do not like the double dew claw, they are huge and it always worries me, that they could catch on the A Frame, or some other bit of the equipment. I made the mistake, when I first met him of asking if he was a cross between a Doberman and something else

To be fair that is pretty much what they look like!  Some of them bear more than a passing resemblance to my old girl Opi, who was (at best guess) a rott/GSD/collie.  But they still have that *something* about them that gets me

I imagine as youngsters they would be very challenging - my ideal would be an adult rescue as all my dogs are, but I realise that as a very small breed numerically speaking in this country, that's not too likely to happen.  Although I may go down the line of leaving my info with breeders in case of older dogs being returned.
