UK Vets launch Big Tick Project to track rising threat of Lyme Disease

"Vets across the UK are set to take part in the Big Tick Project, launching today, which will see the largest nationwide collection of ticks from dogs in a bid to help scientists track what is feared to be a growing threat to people and their dogs from tick-borne zoonotic diseases such as Lyme Disease (Borrelia). New research reveals ignorance of ticks and Lyme disease amongst dog owners: over half (54%) don’t know that Lyme disease affects both dogs and humans, whilst 47% of don’t know that ticks can transmit diseases to both dogs and humans."

Saw this on breakfast news! I wonder how long it will take to publish results? Will they add photo's to identify certain ticks who pose the most threat?
I've just got another tick tool to keep a spare with me on walks.

No idea and I would imagine all ticks pose the same threat. Obviously, there are different types of tick (fox, hedgehog, sheep, deer and badger) and the type you may come into contact with will depend on where you live to some degree.

There is some interesting info on the Lyme Disease Action site.
