I've just returned from having my dog groomed.  I'm disappointed again.  I think I've been spoilt over the years with good results but those groomers have retired.  These new groomers seem to pick and choose too easily.  Today my dog looked like she had been sprinkled with water just to look like she'd seen the bath.  I usually clean my dogs ears every 2 to 3 days but I left them to see the groomers results.  They weren't cleaned.  Claws not cut, not even the dew claws.  I always did my own dogs but now I find it too much hard work so I'm willing to pay £25/30 pounds for a professional.
I've got that off my chest.  Thank you for reading.

Where are you based? Perhaps someone on here can recommend someone?

That's pretty poor - I always do nails, usually check ears to make sure they don't look sore even if it's not a breed you pluck ears on, and they certainly get a proper bath and blowdry! I agree, where are you based and what breed?

Perhaps you could ask them what is included in the price? I have to agree that it's pretty poor to not even do the basics. Maybe someone here can suggest an alternative?

I don't usually clean ears I must say, I do check them for infection (as so many small dogs come in with them and the owners completely unaware of it) and pluck if necessary.  But everything else gets done.

All I can suggest is you keep trying, or if you see anyone with a decent looking, freshly-groomed dog, you ask where it was done!

I wouldn't be happy with that either.... hardly did the job at all.

It is like with hairdressers, some have the knack and are naturally just good at their jobs, others just get by......keep trying, don't go back to that one, I sure wouldn't.

When my original one retired, it took me 4 groomers to find one which could actually cut well and knew more importantly how to style different breeds, she now does all our family dogs, you'd think they'd all know, but they don't  so just keep going, you will find one you like.......eventually.

You are quite right to be upset, I also agree in you stating your area, that way some of us may point you to one of ours, there are plenty of us on here who use groomers and even are groomers.

A lot here are 32-45 pounds! Must admit one I tried didn't do dew claws they advised of this upfront. Word of mouth recommendations always good. Hope you find a good groomer
