Hi,
Does anyone use their dog as a PAT dog? I am wondering if my BC would be suitable for this in the future but don't really know what the criteria is and would love to hear some first hand experiences. I have been to the PAT website but it's not that informative other than telling you how to apply?
Thanks
Nicola & Jay :)

Hi Nicola,
My Mal, Timber, is a working registered PAT dog :)
The criteria is -
That the dog must have been with its present owner for at least 6mths
Elderly dogs are not usually considered as the work may be too much of a strain for them
The dog must be healthy, friendly and suitable to work in establishments such as hospitals.
An assessment is carried out, usually by your area Regional Manager, and checks the dogs reactions to the following –
Initial meeting
Walking on a lead without aids such as head collars, harnesses or check chains.
Grooming
Restraining
Stroking
Examining
Offering a food treat
Sudden noise
