Where can I buy a grooming top for a 30inch crate. So far I have only found ones that are designed for the expensive crates, ie. Croft. Is there none any cheaper? Will it only fit on their expensive crates?

Many years ago when I got my show crate I just got a piece of plywood about 8 or 9mm thick and had it cut to the size of the top of the crate, stuck a Halfords value car mat on top to make it non slip, and hey presto! It's not fixed onto the crate, I just plonk it on top when the crate is set up, but it's worked for me for 13 years. :-)

Just be aware it is hard to use one if you are on your benches there is not the space and can be very awkward to groom with ease. My first grooming table was a peiece of wood with a thin door mat glued to it but I got a table within a month of showing corgi s downsized from GSDs still showed the GSDs though, I still use the wood though great for placing drinks on no chance of accidental spillage on to the dogs below

I found that if you do a good grooming job at home then you do not need more than a tidy and I found even a quality vet Ben laid on the cage worked. It would be different with a dog that still needed striping or trimming or a very heavy breed.
I bought a decent grooming table now they come in all sizes and weights to suit your breed but I would look at a champ show and try before you buy put your dog on and see what you think disrepair wise etc, some are less sturdy than others and can be quite flimsy and wobble easy

Thanks folks. I think I will go with a good groom at home first and then see what others use.
