Topic Dog Boards / Showing / Crufts qualification 2016 -Question

Hi
This might sound like a stupid question (I've been showing for years but wanted to check):-
Does a 2nd in class at this years Crufts qualify for next year?
I'm not really planning to show my veteran any more this year, so if he's already qualified by getting 2nd that would make us both very happy!
Thanks.

It depends on the class, certain classes only qualify with a 1st place (such as Good Citizen), but a 2nd in veteran will qualify for next year. (As long as they do not change the qualifications which they can do -but in reality hardly ever do.)

Just out of interest, would a 3rd in Veteran qualify for next year? My friend got that award and thought that only 1sts would qualify, but surely anything that's normally a qualifier at a champ show would also be a qualifier at Crufts? And then the other classes would qualify if you won them. She did also win the GC class so I think she's qualified either way, I'm just interested.

Yes Lucy, Crufts counts as any other championship show with CCs (if a CC breed) so 3rd in veteran qualified, the only difference is that in addition ANY first at Crufts qualifies for the next year even if not normally a qualifying class, whereas a first in for instance GC would not qualify at any other show.

That's exactly what I told her, thanks Marianne!
