In a Single Breed show (held under KC Rules) I notice there are the usual categories plus the following:  Special Beginner's Dog/Bitch,  Special Pet Dog/Bitch.  Can you tell me what exactly they mean?  Why are they different for instance than Junior Dog/Bitch?

Thanks All.

Special Beginners is for an exhibitor/dog that hasn't won a CC. We only have one breed open show so I enter this class :) There isn't an age limit on it, but you can win out of it. At the club champ show I enter the post-grad as we haven't won out of it yet, but too old for junior :)

Never herd of the pet one though!

I think it just gives more classes :D

Breed clubs can put on classes that aren't at usual shows. They don't count for anything but are a bit of extra fun. At Papillon shows for instance you can compete in "Best fringes" -the fringes being the fur on the dog's ears.

It should define classes in the schedule, shouldn't it?

There will be a definition of all the classes classified on the day, in the schedule.

Just to say that Beginners can also be owner/handler/exhibit not having won a first at any show but is more often than not owner/handler/exhibit not having previously won a Challenge Certificate ;)

The definitions should be in the schedule, but my guess for the Pet dog/bitch class would be for a dog in pet trim, assuming we're talking your WFT here. Some of the American cocker club shows have a similar class called 'Puppy Trim / Cut Down' which would be for older dogs or novice owners who can't manage the full show trim I suppose.

Same at Poodle shows.
