My 10 yr old CKCS has forgotten his sleep cycle He snores his head of during the evening then is not too keen to sleep during the night  I toilet him last thing and I know I can leave him on his own for 2 or 3 hrs without any problems . After a few hours in bed I have to get up with him and he is back asleep within minutes !!  Many years ago I used to give my baby something called Farlene  he slept like a log all night . Any ideas?

Unfortunately my 12/13 year old CS has done this for some time. She gets me up sometimes 2-3 times during the night, and then she wanders round the garden as if it is day time, checking out all the smells. At times I feel as though I could murder her when all I want to do is get back into my warm bed, but just accept she is senile and that when her time comes I will miss her like mad - even the sleepless nights.

I don't think there is anything drug based that you can (or should) give but you might find a biscuit or a small meal before bed might help.  My dogs are raw fed and I give a large Bonio before bed.  It settles their acid tummies and helps them sleep longer in the mornings.  In fact one of mine would lie-in like my teenage children given half a chance!  Before I fed the biscuit they'd get me up early and whinge to go outside and eat grass.  I appreciate it's not quite the same but it it could be worth a try

Also can you do an activity with him before bed to wake him up and stimulate him so that he falls asleep again more easily?

Finally have a look at herbal supplements to see if there is a natural option that might help - try Dorset Herbs

Sillysue, could you not treat her like a puppy and put up a small pee pen for her toileting needs?  That way she won't be wandering round the garden getting distracted.

I think then sniffing round is the reason she goes out, the wee is an afterthought !! She has no idea of time whether night or day, however I might try the bedtime Bonio as she is always looking for something ( anything ) to eat when she is mooching around, leaves, mud, literally anything.

Then if she only gets to go in the pen for a wee and no wandering around you might be indoors and in bed quicker

Sorry - only just noticed this thread.

There is one thing you could try its a biscuit given at night that is supposed to aid a good night sleep for dogs.

Lily's Kitchen Bedtime Biscuits.. https://fetch.co.uk/lilys-kitchen-organic-bedtime-biscuits-100g-73738011

Could be worth a try.
