Hi all,
I have put this here rather than in breeding as there's not actually any breeding involved...just study. Happy for it to be moved, however.

My friend is trying to understand a little about genetics of colour and coat when breeding.
She has an example, with a black dog (BB) and a brown dog (bb), would all offspring be black because of the dominant B? And would they all be Bb? She thinks that one would be brown but I am not seeing how that can happen.
If anyone knows of some good sources for this kind of information then I would very much appreciate you sharing.

Hope the above makes sense as a question and thank you in advance...

All offspring would be born black with one parent carrying two dominant B's..

Some offspring may carry the "Bb" gene.

I know genetics quite well, but it is very specific to my breed where there is huge variation in accepted colours.

If found this site quite good
http://doggenetics.co.uk/

BB x bb = All Bb so no brown diluted puppies but all carrying the gene for it.

Thank you both. Much appreciated.
