Hi all

Busy getting prepared for the new arrival and having problems looking for decent puppy ruck sack.

It needs to be quite robust and be able to carry the puppy during the time before all vaccinations are done but then to carry the pup on walks with us with the older ones once he has had his quota of excercise for the day .

I know this won't be for too long before he becomes too heavy but want to be able to get him out as much as possible to get maximum socialisation opportunities as possible .

It needs to be relatively easy to clean as well as he will no doubt be a tad muddy when he is put in it !
Any ideas on the best option to look at ?

I was going to have a look when I was at Crufts but looks like I will be getting him on the Wednesday so I will be staying at home having puppy cuddles and play instead !:grin:
I think I have got everything else I need ,lots of new toys, show lead , grooming table and tools ,ring craft sorted and gun dog puppy training all booked !

I had my first puppy cuddles yesterday, just adorable and this next two and a half weeks is going to go very slowly

I use a Huggababy sling for humans ( other brands available )
I've used it for several puppies now, it must be over ten years old and still in good nick, I like a sling as the puppy can sit up, or lie down, If it's winter, I put a bit of vet bed in it, which not only makes it cosy, it gives the pup something a bit more rigid to sit on.
It's also very comfy for the human, and goes in the washing machine when it gets manky.

Had a look and they look good although slightly on the expensive side.

My only concern would be stopping the puppy trying to jump out if both hands are tied up with leads walking the other two?

I used a similar one that I got years ago from mother care. Its done 4 dogs and four kids. YOu can wriggle them about into a safe position so no jumping out. It is sitting waiting for the next arrival whenever that appears lol
Have alook on ebay there are cheaper versions that are just as good or you can make them from a strip of fabric and buying the ring

There are much much cheaper ones on the go, when I got mine, they were the only ones you could get, and I got it in their sale.
Never had a problem with puppies jumping out, I think the thing is too darn snuggly and comforting, they just want to stay there !.
Its been Staffie pups I've used mine with, one of which was a real live wire ( aka total nut job ) , even she stayed safe and secure and would almost jump in herself when I bent over to put her back in after her toddle.
Not sure if they could get out f they wanted too, I've used it whilst walking two leashed dogs, and never had a problem, but both leads were in one hand, so I always had a spare.

I have gone for this one to start with as just found it on Amazon but will look at the your type if the puppy grows out of it quickly !

The two bigger dogs have to be handlef separately as Bog the rescue boy is quite a pest to handle ( no lead walking until we got him at 18 months ) so he can be a handful especially at the beginning of walks !

Thanks for the input

Let us know how you get on with it

Yes will do. It will be the OH who will be carrying him so will get a review from him !

:yell: I like your style, get someone else to do the carrying.

I haven't really got a choice as I go in for a operation on my back so no carrying heavy loads for six weeks !

That was quick arrived today !

Really nice quality so we will see how it goes. Very good value.

I am not sure how long it will last as this is one of the boys at 5 weeks ( not necessarily my boy yet as the choice is still to be made ) but I think between now and when I get him I think he will have grown :lol:

Can't wait to see the photos Lucy!
Pup's adventures with Uncle Bog are sure to be hilarious! ;)
I've always thought something we could do with on CD is a 'review' section for people to recommend dog products.
- By LJS Date 20.02.15 12:18 UTC
Oh yes I think Bog is going to be a great role model :grin:

That is a really good idea about the product reviews it is a mine field if you are looking at the different types of products you need ( or not need but think you do !)

Grooming is a whole new area for me and getting the right products is important as there are the decisions around go cheap or go for the more expensive and better quality which you don't always know unless you have experience of them.

The reviews you see on some products are sometime a bit dubious so if it was in here at least you know it does come from some reliable sources

I've long thought the same HG, it would have saved me a fortune when I got my first dog and bought every possible doodah on the market, half of which I never used
