Topic Dog Boards / Behaviour / Behavioral specialist in Devon?

Can anyone help with contact details for a behavioral specialist in the South Hams area of South Devon. We have a 10 month Border Terrier who is displaying violent aggresion towards other dogs. He has recently been castrated, but as the effects of this can take a while we want to take steps to make sure his behaviour do not become habitual. Please post details to this website. Thanks.

I expect it may be too far, but Angela Stockdale specialises in dog to dog aggression and having seen her I have faith in her methods, she is in Somerset?

She has several stooge dogs who are selected carefully for their ability to help her "teach" aggressive dogs to modify their approaches and has a very good success rate.

I would like to answer the question with "NO & hopefully they won't get here!!!" but as that won't be any help to you I suggest you contact the veterinary hospital at Leighham Plymouth, one of the lady vets there specialises in behavioural problems. Out of interest (being a border person in Devon myself!) what is the breeding of your border. It may have more to do with that than anything. :(

Charlie came from a KC registered breeder in Bristol.

Hi, I have seen this written befoire. The kennel club do not have registered breeders, only a register of dogs, with which breeders register. Anyone who has KC registered bitch mated to a KC registered dog can register the offspring with the KC (so long as there are no endorsements preventing registration).

The local Authority is in charge of registering Commercial breeders. These will be anyone that breeds five or more litters in any one year, or anyone they consider to be breeding for a business.

M9ost reputable breeders breed as part of their hobby of showing or working their dogs, and unless involved as a family with a number of breeds would certainly breed fewer than five litters a year. These persons are not required to be registered, as breeding in this case is a hobby.

there is actually no such thing as a kennel club registered breeder, but I presume you mean he came from KC registered parents? That doesn't actually tell me the breeding though!

Thanks for all your replies. To answer Sams question, his parents were Badgerbeck Thorn and Badgerbeck Papaverine. I don't know whether this will mean anything to you ?
