Hi

I have a maiden bitch who is 51 days today from 2nd mating who seems a bit off tonight? She has ate normally today but she is loosing smelly wind tonight and I caught her shivering around 30 mins ago?! I've checked her temperature for the 1st time and it's showing as 37.  She's not too bad in herself resting and happy if maybe a little heavy breathing mainly due to her weight now no other signs of ill health? She's had a fab pregnancy with no concerns she's growing well! I'm pretty sure she's far too early to be whelping ? Needs at least another 7-10 days? Am I being over concerned about her temperature ? Would a poorly tummy (due to wormers etc ) make her temperature drop?  advice would be greatly appreciated

Mine often have a little false labour around this time ..BUT no temp drop.
Watch this one like a hawk. Recheck the temp asap and if you're at all worried tell your vet.
In any case let them know in the morning just in case.

Thanks so much -  she is settled so I'm just going to keep a close eye on her! This was the first time I've checked her temp so not actually sure if it's dropped or not? I will check it regularly for the next few days and make notes. I did get check again tonight and it was 37.2

Thanks again

51 days from second mating, but how long from FIRST? I have a litter here that was born 55 days (just -early hours, bitch went into labour day 54) after first mating. All well and now almost 8 weeks old.

You really don't need long then for puppies to be viable. Good luck!
