Interestingly I've just had someone with a six month old puppy of mine tell me that the pup had passed lots of roundworms after a one off dose of Milbemax.....despite a rigorous worming regime with Drontal then Cestem then onto monthy Advocate spot on.

I informed my vet who will pass the info onto Bayer the manufacturer.

I've just given my six month old pup a dose of Milbemax as earlier this evening he vomitted his tea containing roundworms. I check his poop everyday so we'll see what happens.

Wow in all my years of owning the dogs (over 25) have never seen round worms in my own dogs or puppies.

I have always used Panacur including worming bitches during last three weeks of pregnancy.  It does of course attack larval stages not just mature worms.

Tend to only worm when a bitch is to be mated and then everyone gets done when pups leave, so probably twice a year.

I use a multiwormer to cover the tapeworms (though touch wood have had no flea issues (use a household spray) about once a year.

They do say that it's parasites, bacteria and rats which will take over the planet eventually.
We seem to be only just one step ahead of them all the time.

First time I ever saw the "plate of spaghetti" horror that had been described to me was when I rushed around to witness it from a friends boxer bitch puppy she had bought in from a famous kennel.
In all my years I've never seen it in my own dogs, thankfully.

The pup described originally is living ...and is exercised, in a 'dog heavy' environment.

Just coming up to 40 years since I had my first dog and I'd never seen it until last night. I'm horrified that I've let this happen and feel so guilty.

I have only ever see the scary wriggling elastic bands in a rescue GSD litter.

They were so badly infested they were pot bellied and anaemic and when given the wormer were sicking and pooing them up so badly the vet recommended to stop after two days worming and repeat in a fortnight, as one of them was close to death.
