Topic Dog Boards / Health / Swollen face and lumps and bumps

Last nite We took Kito to the vets for a check following on from her RTA last week, (that's another story).

When we got home I noticed a few lumps appearing on her head, a half hours later more lumps and bumps and then her mouth started swelling up, so we can her a anti histermine but not change. Not happy so we called the VET and she said bring her in ASAP.

When we got there they seems to go down slightly so the vet said nothing to worry about see how she get on over nite. Woke up this morning and she looks like another dog!!!!!! Face is REALLY SWOLLEN and lumps all over her body, looks like she has had a reaction to something. We have given her another anti-histermine to see if this works if not back down to the vets at 8.00am.

Has anyone experienced this???

I had the same thing with a young Golden Retriever many years ago. He came in from the garden with a few lumps appearing on his face and practically before your eyes they started appearing all over. I rushed him to the vets where he was given a jab (not sure what, this was about 20 years ago) and I think I was given anti-histamines and steroids. Next day he was back to normal and it never happened again. No idea what caused it.

I hope your girl gets sorted asap.

We took Kito to the vet and they said No to a steroids because she is on medication and the only thing we can do is keep giving her Antihistamines twice 3 times a day. She is not in good spirits as she has to rest after the car hit her at 50mph and DIDNT STOP! She ran through a hedge chasing a rabbit on to the main road, shes lucking to be with us. I take her on this route every morning at 6.00am, across the cow field, round the golf coarse and back again....the farmer decided to take down the wire fence which is why she got through hedge.....I then had to carry her in my arms for about a mile which felt like 10 miles, so she has multiple cuts and bruises, stitches in her knee, a fractured pelvis and now this allergic reaction. We haven't left her side since it happened last Tuesday 13th.....bless her

How traumatic for all of you. I wonder if it's a reaction to the medication she's on? I imagine that when she goes outside you go with her at the moment? Has the swelling gone down at all?

Kito has seen the Vet 6 times so far...even twice in one day/nite so doing everything advised. She has to be on the lead to go out to do her business so we watch her every moment.....the swelling is still there thus evening. This has been a very very hard time for us and more so for our Kito.

It must be heart breaking for you to see her like this. But hopefully she'll be back to normal soon xx
