Hi my 1 year old girl gsp has not eaten her main food for 2 days. She has not had her 1st season yet. She has signs of this i.e swollen vulva, extra licking, sleeping a lot but no sign of discharge yet. Her wees and poos are ok. On her walks she is as lively as ever. It's this lack of food interest that is my concern. She is drinking but not a lot. Has anyone any input on this. Thanks.

My Kizi (RIP) was awful like this around seasons I called her my anorexic and this in a breed that tends toww4rds greed.

She improved then she was mated ate well while rearing pups and after, but went off food again when she had her next season.

In the end I just stopped worrying about it and she improved the older she got.  She didn't carry good weight until she was four or so.

Both my younguns' appetites are patchy at the mo, both are just out of season.  I wouldn't worry too much but I would try and tempt her with something really yummy - sometimes not eating for a few days has a knock-on effect of flattening the appetite further so if you can get it going it might help.  Something warm like slightly heated up chicken, or warm sardines and rice gets one of mine going when her appetites drops (stress-related for her but the effect is the same).

Hi Brainless and Nikita. I have hand fed Saffi on some warm moist chicken this morning. She's been good on both walks today and is now seemingly sniffing around for something to eat. She will have a nap and I'll try her on her Canagan biscuits! She is drinking normally now too! Still no sign of season but as my other (RIP) Gsp didn't start until her first birthday that is not a concern. Saffi will be one on the 17th Jan. Thank you both for your interest and advice ---this forum does calm me down somewhat! Thanks.

After two bereavements here I found that Malted Kelp tablets from Dorwest was the only thing that stimulated the appetite, might be worth a try ?
Good luck.

Saffi's appetite has returned! She'd is her usual lively self again. Wish now, that I'd made the most of her sleeping all day! Lol . Anyhow thanks Karen -- I'll make a note of the Malted Kelp tablets.
