Ah yes!  That's what they do while our hair turns grey worrying about them.  And of course, once the litter is here, we need matchsticks to keep our drooping lids open, and we do tend to look demented.

In that case, as I've never left mine for longer than 2 days over from the first mating, you might start considering having your vet take a look.   If she just has a small litter, they do tend to 'sit', growing bigger by the day and maybe making a C.Section more likely to be needed.    Is this her first litter - she may have gone to inertia and need a shot to get things moving..... and bear in mind too that often a car ride will have the same effect, so if you do take her in, ahve somebody go with you to either drive, or watch her.    And have a box with a warm pad it and your whelping gear - and be prepared to pull over!

I have been in contact with the vet, who didn't seem worried, however, if nothing progressive happens by 5pm (or before) we are set to take a ride over to the surgery.......she has just been to the toilet and had some stringy discharge so I'm wondering if its the plug & we're finally on our way?

Just dribbled some fluid from vulva?!
- By Jeangenie [gb] Date 03.01.15 15:07 UTC
Sounding promising.

What colour fluid? I've had a bitch go to day 67 (from day of only mating...2 days after ovulation) and despite my panicking the vet was not at all concerned....and he was right, all was fine.

If the fluid is green I would be worried...if clear I would say you are on your way.

Congratulations! Nice even litter.

Hehe - NOT a small litter 'sitting' then!!   Clearly conception didn't take place immediately .... good luck - hopefully she'll do her job up to the time you begin weaning.   Then your work really starts!!   I hope you've been collecting newspaper from around the area because with that number, you'll need all you can get your hands on.....

It's why I shred paper all year and  store it.  Killed a few paper shredders over the years
