I am a member of the dogs trust and they offer a service where you can phone  Vetfone at a reduced rate but I cant find the number anywhere. it might have come with my membership details but cant find those at the moment. Just wondering if anyone on here knows the Dogs Trust Members phone number and could message me it?

Here you go
http://www.vetfone.co.uk/home/
but it isn't cheap might be best to phone your own or a local vet if you are away from home

Thanks I found that but the Dogs Trust advertises a rate of 5p per minute for members but I assume a different number would need to be called as I think the charges are generated automatically on the numbers given on the website. I will find out and make sure I have the number to hand for future use. Thankfully dog now seems a bit brighter now. Will watch him through the night and take him to my own vet in the morning.

I fail to see how offering a service to members t a greatly reduced rate is money making  for the dogs trust?

I am not a fan of the dogs trust and am only a member because it gives me 3rd party insurance for all my dogs at a reasonable rate however I would appreciate it if you would not hijack my thread. I posted because I have a sick dog and not because I want your opinion of the Dogs Trust training advice. If you want to comment on that I suggest you start your own thread. Thank You.

Well said ! How is your dog this morning ?
- By Rubysmum Date 27.12.14 08:48 UTC
Still not well. thanks very much for asking. He has an upset tum. very liquid motions and trying to throw up even though he hasnt eaten for 24 hours. Subdued. It is not like him.  Unfortunately he is a sensitive dog who had an extremely traumatic experience at the vets last week so I am reluctant to take him as I am not sure they would be able to determine anything useful if they tried to examine him. Having had a couple of bouts of D&V myself recently I know I would not go to the doctors unless it carried on for a few days but I am a terrible worrier about my dogs and wanted to discuss it with someone without disturbing my vet on boxing day. I will be calling them as soon as they open though

Have you taken his temperature? That can tell you a lot.

Keeping my fingers crossed for him, can guess who it is and doubly bad because of his recent experience. :(

Thanks Marianne. Yes it is Chance. It will be interesting to see how he copes. At least I am prepared this time to stand up for him if I need to. The only dogs I have with vet issues are Ruby and Chance. Why are they the ones to get sick?

How did it go ?
- By Rubysmum Date 28.12.14 13:08 UTC
Thanks :) We had nice vet who did most of the consult in the carpark. He went by my temperature reading so he didnt have to repeat that. We agreed a course of treatment that did not involve needles which were a big part of last weeks problem and took the time with my boy to try to make sure the visit wasnt too traumatic. He is on a course of Metronidazole and Pro Kolin. We weighed him while I was there and he has lost 1.5 kg since he was last weighed a month ago. He was already too thin so this hasnt helped :( The good news is he has eaten a little breakfast this morning and more importantly is now being a right pain in the neck wanting to play ball :)
