My 4 and1/2 months Stafford puppy is scratching and baiting his paws and around the tail constantly. He is on Nutro `puppy choice`. I have used Frontline one month ago and I can’t see any signs off fleas. What else it could be.

Hi there

I do believe that scratching and nibbling arund the paws in particular can be a sign of al allergy. not necessarily fleas but perhaps to food or the environment.

Check you arenot using shake n'Vac as that can be irritating.

Nutro is a good quality food it appears to be recommende on this board a lot; however it coud still be the food as sometimes even dogs that have been fed on one food for years can then develop an allergy toone o fthe ingredients.

I would suggest a trip to the vet. Doubt if it's fleas but you never know.

Will you please let us know how you get on?

Best wishes
Lindsay

Hello, my dog Penny has had a rash on her stomach that she itches until sometimes it bleeds, its really nasty but the only thing that the vet does is put her on steroids which make her fat, cost money and does nothing for her tummy. I think its grass mites, with Penny. The best thing that we have found is Vetzeme creme, which is a vile green colour but doees the trick and soothes it. If there are anymore answers, I would love to hear them!
