One of my puppy owners has just called to tell me he has been run over and killed this morning. he would have been 5 months old tomorrow. She had left him with a trusted dog sitter as she wanted to go into town with her daughter, the first time he'd been looked after by this lady, the postman had rung the doorbell and she opened the door without thinking and he ran out to go to the park. He was killed instantly :-(

I'm sorry if this is the wrong board to post this on but I know many on here who breed will understand how awful this is for me and my family. To others he's just a dog...

Oh Lord, worst nightmare.  Especially as the reason he was there was to be safe.

Oh no, that's awful. How devastating for his owners and for you - after all he was your baby too. I hope the sitter will never be as thoughtless again.

Oh no, how terrible for you and them. :-(

How very tragic...
I know it's no consolation but if this sitter has insurance which they should do then I'd be inclined to make a claim through them. Doesn't beingn him back but the sitter should have been more thoughtful in her actions and she should be held accountable

How awful it's every dog owner's worst nightmare. So sorry for all of you. RIP pup

Poor puppy. His owners must be feeling distraught. As has been said, hope the dog walker has insurance as I would be furious that they could be so lax in their care.

How dreadful, and just before Xmas as well (not that any time would be a good time :( ).

I really feel for you and his poor owners. Agree with others, the dog sitter should be held accountable, although I dare say she is feeling pretty awful as well.

Such a dreadful thing to happen,   and yes,  the dog sitter should have been more careful.    Especially with a pup :-(     Hopefully she is insured.

Can imagine how both the owners and you are feeling :-(

I am so sorry to read this - how awful for all concerned :(

I'm not sure if dog sitter was just a friend or actually offering the service as a job. I still can't believe it's happened, especially as I have 2 of the litter here, they've had lots of extra cuddles today...

Devastating everyone's worst nightmare,  I'm so very sorry.

I'm so very sorry.  My heart breaks for you.  Totally understand why you knew we would understand (because it's not just a dog.)

I would be devastated too.  Your pup owners will be distraught and wishing that they had never allowed anyone to dog sit.  They are going to have an awful Christmas, that's for sure.

RIP little pup.  xx
